A regulated AC adapter guarantees that the output voltage will always be constant.

Do Not use an unregulated supply in place of a regulated one!

Ok to use a regulated (however generally pricer) in place of an unregulated.

3) Output plug size/ Output Polarity

These are measured in mm. I will try and give these measurements as accurately as I can. If the plug is not correct for your application. Radio shack or another supplier may have an adapter or the existing plug can be spliced to the replacement adapter if you be sure to check polarity before attaching to the equipment.

Can i plug a 24 pin PSU to a 20 pin motherboard without an adapter ?

I bought a Power Supply Unit which has 24 pin connector and my motherboard has 20 pin socket
as far as i've seen in websites it won't have a problem but i want to be sure.

I have my old PSU 20pin plastic Plug , can i remove the wires of the 24 pin and fit them to the 20 hole plastic of my old PSU , is it easy to remove those metallic pins ?

24 does not equal 20.
